I’ve completed the move of the blog to WordPress hosted at Media Temple. I have a great feeling of satisfaction that comes with knowing I have more scope to do fun things with this site.

The current theme is Simple Balance 2.0 by Alex Cristache which I’m using as a placeholder whilst I work on my own theme which will be largely based on Sandbox for all of it’s semantic markup and microformat-y goodness.

Thanks to brandjoe, leekelleher, hyderj and duncanwoodward for the plugin suggestions after my Twitter request, here is what I am currently using:

• Akismet – for comment spam
• All in One SEO Pack – for search optimising pages
• FriendFeed Activity Widget – as seen in the sidebar
• Google XML Sitemaps – another SEO plugin
• ShareThis – for the little sharing buttons
• Simple Tags – for tag suggestions and management
• Smart 404 – Saves me setting up redirection rules for the old, Blogger generated, URLS
• Social Homes widget – for profile links
• WP-Cumulus – which I’ve called “The amazing tag-o-sphere”

I’m also quite impressed by the WordPress iPhone app which should make blogging whilst out and about easier.
