There has been a distinct lack of activity here for the past couple of weeks. This has partly been due to work pressures but also because I’ve been quietly working on the idea of migrating this blog to WordPress and switching hosting provider. I’ve been hosted by Intermedia for longer than I can remember, and as a Windows/ASP.Net host I’ve never had any reason to complain. However, I’ve started to feel severely limited by Blogger (and jealous of the great plugins available to WordPress users) so I’m going to switch. I think the thing which really persuaded me was setting up some WordPress sites for work for which we chose Media Temple as the hosting provider. MT provide an excellent service which seems to be technically way ahead of any other service I’ve used. This will also allow me to really start messing about with PHP – I feel duty bound to play around in the same sandbox as many of the leading web applications despite once holding the opinion that PHP was for n00bs.

So expect everything here to remain quiet for a short while whilst I go through the process of imports/exports/redirect configuration etc.
